I really enjoyed the show. The dogs were amazing! I will definitely be hoping to come next year. I would also love if you would make another series of the Mist DVD'S ??????
We love watching the Mist DVD's and can't wait to come back and see the show in the Summer!

Fantastic show, as always, with David looking exhausted after the antics with the ducks!! So lovely to see the original star of the show - Mist. A great evening's entertainment for all ages ...and don't forget to try some of Debbie's lovely cakes!!
We attended the Sheepdog and Shepherd Experience shows on June 22/23 2016. We loved it. Our whole family enjoyed meeting and petting Mist. The scenery at Morte Point was beautiful. We hope to be back in 2 or 3 years.
Mr. Kennard, I just finished reading your book, A Shepherd's Watch, and loved every page! I chose it because I am a James Herriot enthusiast and wanted a similar style/topic. Your lovely book did not disappoint! I felt connected to each of your dogs. We have a border collie and understand how truly special they are. Would love to visit Devon someday and see Borough Farm in person!
My (adult) daughter and I visited the Sheepdog and Falconry display last Wednesday. We really, genuinely enjoyed the evening. the weather was perfect, the performers were relaxed and clearly loving what they were doing and the animals were amazing, if a little unpredictable. Don't expect a slick, regimented show, this is one of the most engaging and funny shows I've seen for a long time, where anything can happen (and probably will) If you're undecided whether to attend, ponder no more! Pay your money, pull up your bale, enjoy the brilliant views and watch out for Kevin the trainee!
I watch Mist every year on TV around Christmas - Wonderful programme. It should be made into a feature film. I so hope it's on again this year but so far can't find it listed. Can anybody help?
I am a 60 something granny and have been a fan of tv show for years and was determined to meet jake my hero and mist this year so went to one of the shows I sat with enthralled children who loved it all. It was funny original and perfect entertainment with a never seen before fairy godmother!
I really enjoyed the shepherding experience walk. It is an amazing place, and a real pleasure to meet Fly and watch her work. She was fantastic!
We really enjoyed the Shepherding experience which was both enjoyable and informative. Morte Point is a beautiful place.
Had a brilliant time this evening at the sheep dog and falconry evening. David and his dogs were amazing and his wife was very helpful and friendly. Made our day to meet Mist. George is passionate about his birds and it shows. Loved every secound!
We attended the Whitsun week evening Sheepdog and Falconry Display with Champ, our Collie. It was fantastic and incredibly funny. We were all really impressed as dogs, ducks, sheep and birds performed their display. It was brilliant to meet Fly and Mist after the show. Thanks for a great evening.
We've had many enjoyable evenings to see your sheepdog and falconery displays in the summer. This Easter we visited to see the lambing (5th April 2015) and we were not disappointed. A great day had by all (wonderful weather helped) and great value for money for a family day out. We found the info points on the farm walk particularly interesting and my daughters enjoyed the scavenger hunt along with holding a lamb! Thank you for opening the gates and giving us continued insight into farming life.
Just wanted to say had a great time watching last years display, and shepherding experience, what fantastic work and thank you for sharing, cant wait to come back this year and watch the display and shepherding experience, Edith, Garry and Clare
Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed Tuesdays show (July 22nd). We all were thrilled to see the dogs in action and to meet them afterwards. Such a Fabulous show and what a stunning setting! Food was excellent and everyone so welcoming. Thank you so much.
Best fivers worth of entertainment I've had in a long while. Nice to finally meet Mist and watch the younger dogs put through their paces. Amazing to see the distance the dogs work at and see the amount of training that has to be put in to make a top working sheepdog. Looking forward to a shepherding walk later in the year. Great location, worth waiting so long to see it!
Just like to say me and the wife really enjoyed the july9 show I hope Georges birds returned
Thank you for a wonderful farmyard show on Tuesday. The children loved meeting the dogs (especially Mist and Jake!!). Our little boy was so excited to meet them it was the highlight of his holiday. The show was entertaining for all of us, we did enjoy super duck and felicity sheep! We also joined you for the walk to morte point, it was amazing to watch the dogs work with such skill, and to learn about the challenges of farming on the cliff. Thank you for a fabulous time and the delicious cakes!
Thanks for a wonderful show last night. So informative and so entertaining. We laughed at the antics of the dogs, ducks and birds so much. All best wishes to everyone, and again, thank you for our insight into your lives.
We went on your Bluebell walk a few weeks ago. We took 5 children with us who really enjoyed themselves. It was a beautiful scenic walk through the woods with lots of interesting facts along the way. We all got to meet Mist and saw the other dogs and pups. David spoke to the children about the farm & his dogs, such a nice man. My children haven't stopped talking about it and looking at their photos. We WILL be back for sure!
Have just returned from a shepherding walk to morte point with David, Zola and Fly - utterly amazing and thoroughly enjoyed by us all. Fantastic scenery and was great to have a chance to see the dogs at their work which is truly a joy to watch. The children loved the talks about Mist and her friends and was great for the grown ups too to learn a little about this wonderful life. Thank you David and the dogs - highly recommended !
Great show David but missed Jake doing the ducks. Glad to hear that Fern's still about. Ellie misses Grace but loved seeing all the dogs. Very best to all.
We had a wonderful time at Borough Farm, and were so priveliged to see the baby lambs. Thankyou so much for letting us into your farm at this busiest time of year, and also for getting Mist out for hugs! It was just fabulous!
We first came to a memorable display at Borough Farm on 22/08/2013 with our 15 year old son and two daughters(aged 12 and 13 years old) and our dog, Louie. We drove across from Herefordshire and enjoyed the fantastic falconry display with George and enjoyed watching Zola,Sweep and Alfie. Then watched Jake duck hearding. This year we came to a Lambing Open Day on the 19/04/2014 and had a lovely time watching the lambs been born. Our family loved seeing the puppies called Will,Wyn and Ness and also saw Mary the Pig with her piglets. We enjoyed having some pictures taken with Mist and also we went on the bluebell walk with our dog,Louie. It was well worth the visit and journeying time, as the whole family loved visiting Borough Farm. We hope to visit again in the future!!
We really enjoyed the lambing day. The farm walk was very good, we loved the wood and the buildings for the well head and ram pump. Of course William and Heidi love Mist and all the dogs. I have had to buy him a whistle not sure if he will be able to blow it, I am sure if he can we will wish he can't. It was very kind of you to round up the sheep and show us how the clamping race worked. Thank your Father for the rock cake he gave William it was very nice, as he did share it. As a farmer you never get bored of looking around someone else's farm and seeing how they do it and having a chat. Hope the rest of the lambing goes well. We will visit again. Regards John Nicola, William and Heidi
We came to the Lambing Open Day as an after thought on a cold day. It turned out to be the highlight of the holiday. I am not sure who was more captivated - the children or Mum & Dad. It felt so special to see the lambs being born and to take up the time of the family when they must be so busy. We had such a great time - THANK YOU!
Since watching mist the first time I first became a loving fan of your amazing dogs in particular Jake! I then was given a copy of your first book that my mum had found me in an old book shop and my love of the country life was more so confirmed. We hope to come up from Cornwall In summer although I shall not get to see the old dogs from the books I am ever so excited as are my children who love dogs and watching mist
I've just read through your website, very interesting! May attend some of your tour dates.
parabéns pelos caes que tem, e então a zola já deu a luz?
We have just watched the dvd "a year on the life of the working sheepdog" with my english circle in germany and all really enjoyed it. everyone else is german and we meet monthly to practice their english in a variety of ways. one of the group had been to your area and bought the dvd from some sheepdog trials, several years ago - so you are now well-known on the continent! this is so "english", a part of our culture that many foreigners don't know about. i was so fascinated by the dogs, despite not being a dog owner, and googled to see exactly where the farm is near exmoor. what entrepreneurs you have become - well done for such an interesting and active website. maybe we will find our way over to your corner one day...
A truly amazing place. Great memories
visited on 4/9/13 with our 2 young daughters aged 6yr and 20 months.what a lovely evening, stunning weather and a fun filled couple of hours.great to see a non commercialised family run event.full of laughs and great cakes!!.thanks and hope to see you and the dogs/birds/sheep next summer!
We came across this display advertised in a local information leaflet. We were greatly impressed by both the falconry and sheepdog display. It was easy to park, the setup was friendly but professional and the animals (and owners) were very charismatic! I would recommend this to anyone - and you will learn something! The noisy kestrels, the speedy falcon, the cheeky sweep and amazing Alfie! Loved it x
Took part in the Thursday evening Shepherding Walk. What a wonderful experience with a wonderful host and his amazing dogs!!
What a great evening we had at the sheepdog show last Wednesday. It was the highlight of our holiday. Me and my two young daughters have watched 'Mist'on telly over the years and were very excited to visit Borough Farm. We sat on straw bales and laughed out loud when one of the dogs dashed off in the wrong direction and sat amazed when Alfie brought in two hundred sheep from a field 0.5 miles away. My daughter was thrilled to act as a duck post for Jake. 'Boss' carried it all off effortlessly and had the audience eating out of the palm of his hand. I was very impressed that he and Mist sat patiently at the end for all the children (and some of the parents)to have the chance to meet Mist and have a few moments with her. We'd forgotten our camera (my children nearly killed me!) but we will never forget our evening at Borough farm - thank you.
We as a family have attended many of David's displays and lanbing days.I think we were at one of the very first!!! Every time we go we have a wonderfull time, and such a warm welcome from all the Kennard family,Every display has been diffrent in some way and realy enjoyable, I hope this september to go on the Shepherding Experience walk with my sister, my husband has done it with one of our grandaughter and realy enjoyed it, Even on a realy cold wet day it is lovely to see all the dogs,Thank you,
We attended the display at Borough Farm last Wednesday with our 15 year old son and 7 year old daughter and two dogs. We drove across from where we stayed in Dorset on holiday both displays were SUPERB and well worth the visit and jouneying time!!. The whole family loved it! Our son left with Mist's paw print on his trousers ( which although entirely accidental he was incredibly pleased about) our daughter left clutching the paw print which she fell asleep holding it on our long journey back. Thank you to the team at the farm including the delicious cakes.
Visited Borough Farm today 31/7/13 & even though the weather not great received a wonderful warm welcome in the hay barn! Fantastic falconry display with George & our two girls thrilled to see Zola & Sweep working, Jake duck herding with David & wonderful Mist enjoying her retirement! We'll be back, hopefully in the sunshine!!
It was really, really good, says Abigail, aged 7. Mum and Dad agree. We watched the display at Dunster on 30 July and had a great time. George and the birds put on a fascinating display. David and the dogs were brilliant! We enjoyed it in the rain last year and in warm sunshine this year. Simply, pure entertainment. Abigail and Dad were really pleased to have a photo with Jake and David. Thank you
Dear Mr Kennard: At the moement I'am reading the german version of your book:"A Sheperd's Watch: Through the seasons with one man and his dogs" for the second time and I love it. I am absolutely fascinated from the description of your work as an sheperd and the dogs as well. Although your work is extremely hard work, it seems that it is worth to work for it. While I am reading the book I notice that I really miss England and the beautiful countryside. When I lived in England (only for one year) I didn't have enough time to visit Cornwall or Devon but I hope I will sometime. Thank you for giving an insight in your daily life. Best wishes from Germany, Melanie.
Thank you so much for a wonderful evening watching you work your dogs on the beautiful cliffs at Morthoe. I have been to your displays for the last four years but it was really special to see the dogs at work in this magnificent terrain. The relationship that you have with these amazing animals is inspirational!
We have been to the display tonight 24/07/13 at borough farm with our 3 year old who is a huge mist fan. He loved seeing jake work the ducks also meeting mist and was especially fascinated watching fly and Alfie working the sheep. Full of laughs and friendly faces we will definatley be back to visit again 🙂
24th July 2013. Brilliant, a really enjoyable evening watching the birds and dogs. Kids loved it almost as much as mum and dad. Both commentators very good and kept the crowd entertained and involved. The skills of the animals and their handlers was amazing as was the bond between them. We'll be back.
I love reading about your collies and the farm. I have had collies for 30 years and all have been very different in their make up and behaviour. One of the best breeds for me apart from the german shepherd's that I grew up with. Good Luck for you all in the future and your endeavours.
Many thanks for a wonderful evening (July 10th), it was perfect weather for sitting out to watch the great displays. It was our 5th visit and still so great to watch. My daugther Ashlea (3years old) had a brill time assisting Jake with the ducks, even though Jake was being quite a naughty boy. And finally a huge thank you for signing my book. Many thanks Tennants and Gladstones.
We had a wonderful time seeing the display (26 June/27 June) and going on the Shepherding walk, it was truly fantastic to meet David, my daughter is an absolute fan of Mist, who was in awe of everything she saw, loved walking with Fly and Alfie, they are amazing. Thank you so much, David an family and all the wonderful sheepdogs. we are planning to do it again next year!! A truly wonderful experience
Thank you so much for the sheepdog & falconry show tonight (3 July). We came along last year & enjoyed the show so much we had to come along again tonight & we were not disappointed. My two children loved it & my little girl was completely starstruck (again) at meeting 'the Boss' & Mist. See you next year!
I went to the website for the English National Sheepdog Trials at the Devon County Fayre site after reading today's blog entry, and the dog on the emblem there for the Trials looks like MIST!! VERY cool!
Finally! Read one of your books' in hospital earlier this year - Brilliant** Wanted to write and thank you for a refreshing, interesting read. I think the book was called 'Seasons of a Shepherd' or along those lines. Memory-loss, apologise for the vagueness. Was about your family and the dogs to be included and your 'faulty'landrover - Fern was there. Very good book and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Best of Luck for the future and I hope the Shepherd-tradition stays in your family. Thank you again for a most enjoyable read - Angela x
Thank you for a magnificent experience and for the personal mention the fact that Phoebe was able to be a 'duck post' whilst one of her favourites, Jake, worked around her was a highlight and then seein Mist herself was the crowning glory. Well worth the long trip from Liverpool. The Cave family
hi mist fly and the rest of the sheepdog gang i love your show so much i wish i could come to borough farm i just ordered mist tale of a sheepdog puppy see ya later alligator
We travelled to Devon from Aberdeen in Scotland specifically to come to the lambing open day, and of course to meet Mist and Jake. We can honestly say it was worth every second of the 12 hour car ride down (with 2 kids under 4!!)- we had a brilliant time! "The Boss" was lovely, made time to talk to us all and was so informative and passionate about his lifes work. The farm was beautiful and the animals, both dogs and sheep, were just fantastic to see at such close proximity. What was meant to be a nice trip for my Mist obsessed son has turned into a beautiful memory for all of us that will not be forgotten. Thank you soooo much for sharing this with us.
We came to the lambing weekend last year and we really enjoyed it especially our 6 year old. We also came to the sheepdog display in the summer which was great fun with a fabulous scenic backdrop of the hills and sea beyond. We returned to the lambing weekend twice this weekend as our daughter was captivated by the lambs and piglets. The family are all very friendly and David gives such special attention to guests and talks to the children with such inspiration. Looking forward to visiting again in the summer!
We visited on your first lambing day this year. Our two girls had a wonderfull time meeting Mist and Fly and "The Boss" who made time for everyone. Terrific dogs, well run farm and a smashing down to earth family. Well worth the visit.
Our family really enjoys "Sheepdog Tales" Mist. And appreciate the time you and others took, to make such great children's videos. My children have memorized a lot of the stories and never get tired of watching them on these cold winter days we've been having. One of my daughters sometime even sounds like fern when she and her siblings are playing. We also love border collies. It would be great to see your displays, but live in the states. Wish you and Borough Farm the best.
Dear Mr Kennard, I've been your fan for 4 years now and I just thought last year of being a shepherd like you! I have a huge shepherd collection with your films and 3 diarys with facts to lead me on the way to what I want to be.In one diary it's all about you, your dogs and your farm, my Mum's side of the family are farmers and my Grandad had 300 sheep when he was alive. So can I say thank you and your dogs for inspiring me and giving me facts for my diary! I'm very grateful! from Lucy Wilkes. Aged 10 p.s. we are hoping to come and see you in the summer.(when it stops snowing!)
We joined you for lambing open day last Easter Monday, and are really looking forward to it again this year. Last year, we'd never seen such rain. Hoping for blue skies this year, but will be happy either way. Our children are beside themselves with excitement. The Kings
Hallo David and Family Just to say that I have read "A Shepherd's Watch for the third time, having bought it for £2.00 a couple of years ago at an Age Concern Charity Bookshop. I have loved reading about your farm, the family and, of course, the dogs. It's one of those books that is a great comfort somehow, if I'm feeling stressed! I a country girl still though a town dweller for nearly 40 years now and we've owned three wonderful border collies during that time. There were no sheep but they gave the local park and wood squirrels a hard time, especially when mother and daughter worked as a brace!!We've rehomed other dogs, too, including a German Shepherd but nothing beats the intelligence and ability to reason like a border collie. I've just discovered your wensite and am not surprised at all at how much you all at Borough Farm are loved. You've offer so many people a chance to know a life that we might all hanker after from time to time (expect for the cold and wet bits!) Congratulations and so many thanks for allowing me in. Margaret x
hello my son absoultly loves mist he shouts sheep so i put mist dvd on i hope you make some more as the older ones are really good gemma & steveb
David, Greetings from Colorado! I work on a farm as the Education Coordinator and have enjoyed your books. This past summer we had a local gal who raises sheep and border collies (and gives your book as a gift to friends, she's told me) out to help with our summer programs for kids. We had a great time with the kids learning about border collies, trying to herd the sheep around an arena themselves and then watching the border collies do so masterfully. Just thought you'd like to know your influence is felt across the pond and far out west as well. All the best, David Rudin
hi, just wanted to say that i absolutley adore border collies and absolutley loved the show in the summer. i was on holiday with my family and it was definatley the highlight of my holiday! i loved meeting mist at the end and cant wai to come again soon! thanks again, emily x
Another superb evening was had by us all on Raistlin's 11th birthday on 5th September. Bit worried about frightening the dogs (and sheep) by turning up dressed as pirates but they all took it in their stride hahaha. Mist is as gentle as ever and Raisty was so happy to see Jake with the ducks again (he's his favourite). You really should do a series all about Fly please. Thanks again for your time and your wonderful dogs.
We did a walk around Morte Point last week with David, the wonderfully zippy Fly and Jonathan, a National Trust ranger. All my family had a great time! Fabulous to hear about the challenges of looking after sheep through the seasons, training the dogs and maintaining the beautiful landscape for people and biodiversity. Thank you!
Hi there I was so pleased to see your display on Wed 22nd August. I have your books and got all your DVDs. Lovely to meet Mist in the flesh But sad to see her not well. Ive owend 8 Border collies they are a fantastic breed. Thnaks for showing people how wonderful these dogs can be.
Hello - we came to see the show at Dunster on 7th August and it was honestly the highlight of our holiday. Our collie enjoyed the show every bit as much as we did. It was such a people and dog-friendly show and everyone got their chance to meet Mist and talk to David, which was the icing on the cake. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful and gorgeous dogs with us all. x
Hi, We watched the show on 22nd August at Borough Farm after seeing an advert on a tourist website. We thought the show was excellent and a lot of effort was made to make it both informative and entertaining. It really showed the working dogs in their own environment. Seeing the dogs in action, running up the fields and fetching the sheep was amazing. The shepherds hut was a great addition and we enjoyed the lovely cakes. George the falconer was informative and entertaining too. It was fantastic to meet Mist and getting her paw print was a great keepsake. Nothing can be improved in our eyes, however it did look like David needed a little help with all the children and people waiting to meet Mist. We will be recommending the show to our family and friends. Many thanks for the spectacular evening. Steve, Michelle, Emily and Edward x
We really enjoyed the show at Dunster on 07 August 2012, despite the rain. Abigail's photo with Mist now has pride of place on the wall and Daddy enjoyed watching Jake and the ducks. Great fun, David and the sheepdogs and the birds of prey brightened a wet day. P.S. Watching Mist and Jake in Sheep Dog Tales has kept Mummy and Daddy sane!
i came on 10th august with my son and grand daughter Rebecca Had a fantastic time meeting Mist and all the gang made my Rebecca's day she has been waiting all year to meet Mist and cannot stop talking about the boss and his dogs
We attended the show at Borough Farm on Weds 1 August 2012. Our youngest son has been a fan of Mist for several years and he was thrilled to bits to be able to meet Mist after the show, including obtaining the latest DVD and Mist's pawprint! An oustanding evening of educational entertainment in a truly unique atmosphere(with some excellent home made cakes also available!). In addition to the sheepdog displays, the falconry display was also superb and most informative. Borough Farm is over 300 miles from our home in Norfolk but this evening was genuinely the highlight of the holiday this year. We would recommend to anyone - and don't be put off by any bad weather - the show we attended had us in tiered seating (made from hay bales) in a barn which made the atmosphere even more special. Our sincere thanks to everyone involved.
Visited Borough Farm on 1st August during our holiday in Devon and had a wonderful time. The displays were well organised, interesting and very amusing. In particular my girls loved meeting Mist and Jake. This was the highlight of their holiday (and mine) and we all hope to be able to visit again next year. Thank you.
We saw the display on 25/7 with our 2 children. Our daughter was so excited to visit. Never before have I seen a dog 'mobbed' by so many excited children!! Well done Mist you are a true professional to cope with the ardent fans!
We came to watch the sheepdogs and the birds yesterday. Loved every minute of it. Glad we brought our Belgian shepherd along, I think she realised that she was probably setting her standards a little too low just trying to keep two willing adults and a headstrong springer spaniel together! Looking forward to seeing Fly in action again (next year?, I hope)
A brilliant and entertaining display @Borough farm 25/7/2012. We built our holiday around this visit and our kids have talked of nothing else all week. We were not disappointed. From being completely star struck at being waved onto the car park by 'the boss' and warmly welcomed to a stunning display of skills from animals and human alike. Seeing Jake and Mist in the flesh has made their week, and we were stunned by the peregrine falcon and Fly. Thanks to you and your family, we hope to see you again.
I visited your fabulous show on the 4th and the 11th of July.I thought it was great all the dogs where brilliant.I enjoyed getting Mist paw print on both of my books. Thanks for the wonderful evening!
On Wednesday 4th July we were treated to a stunning demonstration by David Kennard and his wonderful sheepdogs. This was the highlight of my holiday. I first saw a dog working sheep in the mid 60's when Wiston Cap was competing in Hyde Park, London. Since then I have owned three border collies (or they have owned me!) David and his dogs were a joy to watch and Mist paw-printing 'pawtographs' is a lovely idea. Hope to be back next year. Helen & current B.C. Bracken.
We have just got back from your show (4 July) & wanted to say thank you! My little girl, Lola, is going to bed tonight a very happy two year old after meeting Mist the dog! It was a great show, informative & fun. Would recommend it to all & we will visit again. Thanks again.
Hi once again to you all at Borough Farm What a great night it was last Wednesday at Borough Farm. A perfect evening for an open air display and what a display we had. The new falconer George and his birds were most entertaining and what about his owls how enchanting were they? Then David you and your dogs once again thrilled us with your skills, especially Fly getting all the flock from the top field. It makes the hairs on the back of the neck stand up and my eyes fill up watching her working, doing her upmost for her master. We visited last year on one of your lambing days and saw Zola and the other pups at about 8 weeks old. It was great to see her now working with the sheep. Before the display we sampled some of Debbie's cakes. I pride myself in making a good Victoria sponge but Debbie's was the best ever. Congratulations to her. Only wished we had bought more to take away. Hope you all have a successful summer. Regards Kay
Hi to all, We watched your display last wed, june 27th, and as we based our holiday on visiting mist and co!!!!!, it was brilliant, George's birds were fantastic when they started to behave themselves but so funny when they did'nt, and very imformative talk. Jake was his usual funny self with the ducks and Fly's gathering at the end was amazing, ( wish my mist could do that) Alfred and Zola "panels" have a lot to live up to and look forward to seeing them work in the future, we'll definatley be back to see you. A great show.
I have read David's books and they were brilliant. I hope he writes another one! We attended the Sheepdog and Falconry display at Borough Farm on Wednesday 20 June 2012 at Borough Farm and it was a most enjoyable evening. I can highly recommend it.
We came to your lovely farm last Wednesday (20th June 2012) to see the falconry and sheep dog display...We both thought it was a thoroughly entertaining evening....thank you all... A special thank you must go to your young son who seemed to spend more time chasing the sheep than the sheep dogs on this particular evening!!!!!! (that is said in good spirit....we loved it all) It was an incredibly wet evening but we were sat in a barn on comfy hay bales. Tea, coffee and home made cakes were available...it was a perfect evening... thank you again....Caroline and Ian xx
Yay! I bought a hardcover copy of your original book A Shepherd's Watch through Amazon! There still are some around! Thank you for the joy your bring to so many people!
Uhm, hello! I just wanted to say I admire you and your dogs so much. I hope someday I can meet them. I first heard about Borough Farm when I watched Mist: The tale of a sheepdog puppy, (my favorite movie) and then all of the Sheepdog Tales. <3 I love border collies so much, and hope to someday work with them like you do. We have three dogs, Balto, a 10yr old Golden, Cooper, a kooikerhondje mix and we actually named one of our puppies, an Australian Cattle Dog x Schnauzer after Mist c: They're the best ever and we do dog agility with the two puppies. Hugs to Mist, Jakey, Fern, Ernie, Gail, Fly, Alfie, Eddie, Colin, Dart and everyone else! <3 And much love to Swift and Sir Gregory. rip.
Sorry these comments are so late; I've only just got broadband and discovered your website. Being very nervous of driving "down south" (I live in Leeds)it took something special to persuade me to venture to Devon for our summer holiday - the something special being the National Sheep Dog Trials. Having watched The Year of the Working Sheepdog and all the Mist programmes we were thrilled to discover that Borough Farm was not far from our campsite and that we were able to see one of your displays which we thoroughly enjoyed. We have a photograph, taken at the trials, in which Kevin,(my husband) holding our old Moss, is talking to you, holding Mist. It has pride of place on the living room wall and Kevin is very proud of it. As we lost Moss last year and Kevin now has cancer it is something that can not happen again and is very special to us. We now have Nell, 11 months old, and I am slowly learning how to work her with sheep. Nell is learning faster than I am but we are making progress. Thank you for some very special memories.
Hello to all at borough farm! Will, mummy, gran, grampy, and great gran all visited on easter monday. We stayed for 2 hours, despite the weather, and had a fantastic time. Will loved meeting mist and jake, and having his picture taken with them. All of the humans were very friendly and helpful too. Unfortunately we didn't get to actually see a lamb being born, but that just means we'll have to come back next year!! We are looking forward to the summer displays, and as we live just down the road in combe martin, we will probably make it to more than one! As for watching the programme, will loves it and so does mummy (I have been known to watch it when will wasmt there!) Another member of our family who loves to watch the antics of everyone at borough farm is zac, our staffie cross rescue dog! Thank you for keeping us entertained, and also educated about farm life! Good luck in the future, and we'll see you in the summer! Mummy and will Xxx

We really enjoyed ourselves and I was over the moon to have my photo taken with Mist especially as she came and put her head on my lap. Mummy and Daddy really enjoyed the fact that everyone was so welcoming and friendly. we all found it very educational thankyou very much. Love Freya age 7 Oliver 5 & Edward 3

We live in Seattle, and a year ago we rescued two 11 year old Border Collies. They are awesome dogs. Then we discovered the Mist movies and the books. Thank you for such wonderful books, and wonderful movies; we've learned so much about sheep and dogs. I hope there will be more books and movies about Borough Farm.
Hi, hope you are all well! Shannon who is 4 watches 'Mist' on repeat every day, I've just bought the pup dvd for her so she can have a change! Her favourites are Mist and Jake and she sleeps with 'her' Jake every night. Its amazing how much kids pick up and she re-enacts the scenes with her toy farm. We even go to the cattle market to see if we can spot McPhereson! We've just visited a farm near us to see the lambs and she was most put out that Mist wasn't there! Your stories are magical and I hope they continue. Thank you x
I've always loved border collies and discovered Year of the Working Sheepdog by looking for Christopher Timothy stuff (I'm a huge James Herriot fan). I really like the video and fell in love with all the dogs, especially Fern. I'm very much looking forward to getting more videos from Borough Farm. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful life with us. Please give the dogs an extra scratch and pat from me.
Hi there I just wanted to say how much my 19mth old son Tom enjoys your programme. We have been watching it on channel 5 and he gets so excited and shrieks with delight when the dogs appear. It is definitely his favourite programme and he loves watching not only the dogs but all the other animals as well. I have to say that I also love the programme and have to admit that Jake has had me crying with laughter on more than one occasion. I have just seen that you perform displays on the farm so we will certainly be making a trip down to see you and all the dogs this summer. A truly lovely programme and a joy to watch. Kind regards Kate
Having only recently discovered Mist through a chance buying of the movie in our local supermarket, I went on to buy all of the DVD's available. My son and I have been watching them since and very very much enjoy watching the dogs work and the silly funny things they get up to. Not only do we see the wonderful dogs and hear the lovely stories, but we get to spend some quality time together while watching our favorite thing. Fabulous idea to have a kids tv show of true working dogs, absolutely love it! Would love to know if there are more dvds or series available (I have series 1-3 and the movie) It is strange to read the diary and such to see how old the dogs are now given that we only just discovered the show! And poor Swift, she was a lovely wee thing! I hope to see and read more about the dogs of Borough Farm, and have bookmarked the page in order to do so! All the best and hugs to the dogs with thanks!
We come from the city of Halifax, Nova Scotia and have had 3 Border Collies to date. Although we are city dwellers, we live close to a large park where our dogs can run leash free. Our elders border, Shelby passed away April, 2011 at age 16, and along with our 10 year old border collie, Nop, we now have an an almost 1 year old blue eyed beauty name Mist. One of our most dear Border Collie owner friend bought the original Mist video when it first cmae out and it was at that time, our 3 year old daughter determined our next dog would be named Mist. I see on line there have been subsequent Mist tales which we intend to purchase! Thank you so much for sharing your stories and it is our hope to visit your farm and meet the original Mist some day soon.
Dear David Kennard i have always been a big fan of Mist and all her adventures on borough farm. i have always tried to keep up with dates of DVD series releases and the dogs ages and ect. and i recently just watched series 3 of Mist Sheepdog Tales. in this i have regained my obsession about her again and even though i live far from devon i have always wanted to see mist, but never could and it saddens me. I also just read everything on the website and to find that mist is now 8 and is now diabetic, the fact that my all time favorite dog is getting older, as all dogs do, i know that i will never get to see her face to face. Swift was a great dog and i didnt know she passed in 2010. i dont even know if there is going to be a series 5 of mist but i wouldnt of thought so. it would be great to know that all the dogs are well, and that mist is doing fine. she is a fantastic dog and i cried knowing she was diabetic and also getting old. please reply soon sincerly Dani
Me and my family has been to Borough Farm and enjoyed it thoroughly. I even saw David with the dogs 3 times in a row because i liked the dogs so much. Swift will be sadly missed. I have watched every DVD.
I love watching Mist sheepdog tales! At first i thought it was like, wasn't real , then i discovered it was and i was amazed! Give the sheepdogs my love!!! Ursula xxx 😀
hi david and the dogs , we visited the farm on the first open day of 2010 in june. it is my birthday on the 12th jan can you do something on my birthday like meet all your dogs and take them for a walk on the farm . love from kiran luckett
Dear David I came across Mist, on Christmas Day morning, we had just lost our border collie Meg of 16 half years, and seeing your dogs cheered my father and I greatly! I'm 26, but find Mist great entertainment, it bridges all ages! We now have a 9 week blue merle border collie, and now I have bought your DVDs, she is fascinated watching your dogs at work. I must say I love Jake, as he reminds me greatly of Glen, the working border collie at the farm across the road I used to take walks, sadly he is no longer with us, but he seems very similar nature. I hope we can get down from the Yorkshire Dales where we live to see your dogs in action at Borough Farm. Best Wishes Tom and Bernard
Hi there all at Borough Farm I have just finished reading your books David and what pleasure they have given me. I have been fascinated by your extraordinary writing about your life with your wonderful dogs. Are there any more books in the pipeline? I hope so. The very best wishes to you all for 2012. Regards Kay.
I recently re-homed a lovely tri; that was about 8yrs ago; I now have a blue merle also. Watching your tv shows have been a real insight into the mind of the Collie. If you ever write a book re how a collie thinks, I will be the first to buy it.... Hope to visit you in 2012. All the best to you and your lovely collies. Caroline, xx
Happy New Year to all the family and dogs. Look forward to next year when we will be in Devon and come to see your display and meet the dogs. We love the program and the xmas film. Thankyou
We came to your display during the October half term and loved watching your fantastic dogs do their stuff. The walk around the farm was great too as it really makes the programmes come alive to know that we've actually been there. Thank you so much for being the highlight of our holiday. We wish you a great Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Hi David and the dogs 🙂 I came to the sheepdog trial on sunday the 23rd of November and really enjoyed it. I have always wanted to come to borough farm ever since watching the film The year of a working sheepdog. Watching the dogs was work the sheep was amazing and quite inspiring really. It has made me really want to go into shepherding. The journey from cheshire was really worth it and i hope i will be able to work wiht you one day 🙂 Thanks a lot George
Hello David & dogs, Having been avid fans of you & your dogs since reading your first book some years back (and watching Mist from the start of series 1), we finally made the long journey from Sussex to come and see you on Sunday. What a fantastic afternoon & well worth the 10 hour round trip! It was great to see the dogs working & Jake doing his demo with the ducks was hilarious. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting Mist & getting her 'pawtograph'. The farm walk was really interesting. Great value for money & highly entertaining for kids & adults alike & will be recommending it to friends & family. We are now looking foward to catching up with series 3 on the DVD we bought. Many thanks & all the best to you & the dogs, Amy & Glenn (aged 40 & 50!!)
Thanks so much for the pleasure you constantly give my son, he has Down syndrome and has a short attention span except when your dogs are in view !! He didn't move a muscle during the displays and was enchanted to see Jake rounding up the ducks. His joyful face as he hugged Mist was the highlight of my year. We'll be back next year - hopefully I'll have completed the 1000 piece jigsaw by then !!
Hi, I came to see your show one sunny evening a couple of years ago and had the best time! I was staying at the next farm to you and couldn't resist an evening watching your dogs work....they were amazing. I'm not surpised they work so well for you, you clearly adore them. I bought the books, A Shepherds Watch and Dogs of Windcutter Down and it brought back memories of my childhood of going round the farms with my Dad collecting the milk. I went every opportunity I had, for about 10 years! The winters never fazed me even though the snow was as high as the lorry and the farmers had to bring the milk to the end of the farm lanes in churns. I loved that every season brought something new. If I'm ever down your way again I'll be sure to 'come by' and watch you and your dogs again. Wishing you and your family (and dogs!) all the best, Jo
Hi Mist & David, Thankyou so much for letting us share your wonderful world of sheepdog tales. We came to see you at Dunster castle (nr minehead) in the beginning of september 2011, and had a lovely time seeing jake, mist, fly and all the falcons. Seeing you all was a holiday highlight, and we both love you all so much xxx Harvey (2) and Hollie (just turned 1)
Hi We came to see the last show this year on 7th September and although the weather wasn't brilliant, it was a really enjoyable evening. Our daughter had been looking forward to helping Jake round up the ducks ever since last year, when she was too young. Highlight of our holiday, both the sheepdog display and falconry were excellent, rounded off by watching our daughters face as she said hello to Mist at the end. Thank you very much - excellent cakes and coffee too
We came to Borough Farm to see Mist and the other dogs on 24th August and had a great time. Jake looks just like he does on the DVDs. He is still barking mad!!! I enjoyed helping Jake with the ducks. When the ducks went under the bridge we all shouted DUCK!!! We will come next year.
We came to see your show on 18th August 2011. We had a fantastic time both your show and the bird of prey show were brilliant. Evie is so in love with Mist and keeps her autograph and picture next to her bed. We will definately come again the next time we come down from Leeds. P.S I am loving your books.

Hi David,Family and all at Borough Farm. Thank you all for a brilliant evening at your barn display on the 10th of August, while we were on holiday at North Morte farm. It was good to see Jake at work with the ducks and seeing Mist bringing the flock down from the top field. We also enjoyed the Falconry display with Richard. We have nearly finished reading both of your books and we are hoping that you will be writing the next instalment soon. I was sorry that we did not get a chance to sample the home made cakes but will try them when we come again next summer, with any luck the weather will be better and will see the dogs in action in the other field. Thanks again, Ian Bridget and John Shepherd
fantastic evening yet again with david and the dogs well worth the 270 mile round trip we have made the last 2 yrs just to come to see mist and the other dogs and the falconry display.my son gets so excited when he is told we are coming to see you all thanks so much. 😀
Hi David We were on holiday at woolacombe Bay and visited your show on 18th August 2011. We had a fantastic evening with the sun shining and really enjoyed watching you and the dogs working with the sheep. The falcons were also excellent. The whole event was made perfect for my daughters by the munching on your home made cakes! Hopefully come and see you again next time we are down from the Midlands.
Thank you for a wonderful evening on the 17th of August. Travelled up from our holiday in Cornwall, worth the journey, the weather was great, the show was brilliant the dogs are real stars.Emily our youngest daughter, who loves the show was thrilled when she met Mist and got her paw print. The Falconry display was excellent also. Thanks again.
We have just been to see you at Dunster Castle this evening - we had a lovely time and enjoyed every minute of the display - we were lucky enough to help with holding the display for the ducks to run through! Mist was amazing finding the sheep who had run away out of site! We had one of the dvd's and tonight nanny brought us another, so we are going to watch it now and it will be even more fun as we have David's and Mist's autographs and a picture with them!! Thanks again
Dear All We came last Wednesday 17th to Burrough Farm whilst on holiday in North Devon. We are all HUGE Mist fans and saved the trip until our last few days. It was SO worth it - we all loved the sheep dogs and also the falconry display from Jonathan. He has ignited enthusiasm in our youngest son Theo who was chosen to be his 'helper!' The weather was kind to us and the whole evening, weather , views, cakes and entertainment was superb. Good luck to you all and thanks again. Richard, Sarah, Max & Theo
Hello to all at Borough Farm! We visited you on Weds 18th August while on holiday from North Yorkshire! Never has a four hour round trip from South Devon where we stayed been so worthwhile! We had a lovely evening! We enjoyed the Bakewell Tart (just like my Mum used to make!)We were so impressed with everything I got a real lump in my throat watching Mist run out and bring all the sheep back on her own, Jakey Boy reminds me of Maxwell our own Collie who we adopted as a Pup. Thank You for the highlight of our holiday! I will never forget it! xxxxxxxxx
We did a 4 hour round trip to see Mist, Jake and Fly at Borough Farm on 17 August with our 5 year old -Carys. What a worthwhile trip! Carys watches Mist every weekend and has all of the DVDs, but even if you have never watched Mist, this is a brilliant display, and would turn anyone into a fan. Fantastic value for money, stunning scenery, and a wonderful atmosphere. Great audience participation, informative and huge fun. Of course Mist was really impressive, but Jake is such a star! We would recomend this display to anyone visiting Devon. We can't wait to come back next year to see the lambing and to see whether Colin the dog makes it as a sheep dog! xXxXxxXx
Just wanted to say 'thank you' for a fantastic evening at yesterday's display. We drove from Wales especially to visit and it was more than worth it. The dogs are a delight, and we all enjoyed seeing them in person after watching every Mist episode. And despite grim forecasts, the weather smiled on us too. I have a feeling we'll be back next year! Wishing you all the very best, here's hoping for some new tales in the not too distant future!
We visited twice during our holiday in North Devon: on 3rd August, and again on 10th August when due to the cold wind the display was held in the barn. Both displays were interesting and fun. Ben and George loved seeing the dogs and having their pictures taken with Mist. Now we are back in Kent the boys have now started reading the two books we bought. We loved the cakes too and bought extra the second time to take some away with us! Jonathan's falconry display was great too. We spent time walking around Mortehoe and recognised lots of the places on the DVDs. We do hope you will continue the displays next year as we'ld love to come back again. Thankyou, The Walker family

Hello David, All the Dogs and the rest of the Borough farm team, we came to see your show yesturday evening (10th August) and we had such a brilliant time. We travelled from Oxford especially to come and see you as Abbi is a huge Mist fan and wanted to see her again this year. The show was brillaint and we loved all of it, meeting Mist in person at the end and being introduced to 'Colin' and Jakes fun duck hearding were all special highlights. Keep up the brilliant work and hope to see you all again soon! Love Abbi(3.5years) and Callum (1.5years)xxx
Hi dogs, hi David and family! Thank you for this great evening on Aug. 3rd! We came from germany and I've read 2 of your books before coming to Cornwall/Devon this summer. So we decided to have a daytrip from Lizard to North Devon. It was brilliant! The most impressive for me was to see how the dog/s caught the sheeps all alone over such a hughe distance. Our 6 month BC couldn't come with us, because of the strict entry regulations regarding anti-rabies inoculation... maybe this was better for the young dog 🙂 thx a lot for this great evening and for the excellent cakes (carrot cake was gorgeous) and hope to see you all again.
Just returned from another wonderful north devon holiday and want to thank you for yet another fun filled evening on the 3rd august. We loved it,a highlight was meeting colin!!! whoever baked the carrot cake is a genius, the best Ive ever tasted!! look forward to lambing days next spring(by the way we still think you should do lambing live!) Hope Jonathon found his bird! thanks again, The Allen family
Hello, We came to see you all again last week. The duck was very funny when he set off the timer and everyone thought he was going to be a real duck! We loved seeing Jake and Mist and all the other dogs, especially Colin who was so cute. We will definitely come agin next year. Love from Caitlin and Danny xxx
It was our 4th visit to your farm on 3rd Aug as we always try to make your display part of our holiday at Instow. Yet again we had a great evening, it's always good to see your brilliant dogs and the falconry display. Definately worth the drive. Thanks for the insight into your life with the dogs which to us seems so idyllic, but in reality is probably jolly hard work! The new shepherds hut refreshments are a brilliant idea and the cakes were absolutely yummie! Thank you.
Hi to David, family and your wonderful dogs!! Thank you for a wonderful evening on 3rd August, it truly was the highlight of our holiday and exceeded our long awaited expectations. We wish you all the best for the future and hope to visit again. Thanks again

Hello David and family, We would just like to say what a brilliant time we had at the sheepdog and falconry display on Wednesday 27th July. The displays were fun and amazing. We would like to thank David and Mist for letting Sophie have her photo taken with them. We are delighted to have our own Mist paw print and D.V.D. We also enjoyed the delicious cakes and can't wait to come back and see you again on our next holiday. Thanks again for a great evening, Mike, Sharon and Sophie
Hi David and Family, Just wanted to leave a note to say how much we enjoyed your show on 27th July. As big fans of Mist! and having read your books it was a real treat to meet with you and see the dogs in action. Mist amazed us all with her skill of collecting the sheep from the far field. We were blessed with wonderful weather which made the evening perfect. It was fascinating to see the dedication that the dogs obviously have to their duty and their 'Boss'. Having not been to a sheep-dog trial since I was a child my interest has be reignited and we will be looking out for any local trials. Once again thankyou for the wonderful evening and I wish you all the very best for the future.
20th July 2011 - What a wonderful experience for all ages! We had such an enjoyable evening with you and cannot wait to return again. Meeting Mist was our daughter's dream come true and the photos we took just show her pleasure to perfection. Seeing Mist working just shows us how much work goes into every episode of Mist. We spent the next day at Morte Point reliving the episodes! Ella also loved the experience of handling a Harris Hawk at the age of three! We'll continue to recommend this experience to everyone we meet.
Hello David, We attended your display at Dunster Castle on 19 July 2011 and it was the high point of our brief holiday to Somerset and Devon. We want to return to the West Country next year and attend one of your displays at Borough Farm. Do you know if Jonathan has recovered his Golden Eagle and his Gyr Falcon? We are worried about the lost birds. Again, thanks for providing us with a wonderful time this week at the Dunster display. Jim and Leslie Freeman Arundel, West Sussex
Hi, everyone at Borough farm, we came to your display on 6th July and it was superb. Thank you, all your team and Johnathan for such a fantastic evening. My 4 year old was thrilled to have the hawk fly to him, and meeting Mist was the highlight of his holiday - and has watched the DVD and programme non stop since we got home. He is still confused why the sheep didn't talk though!! Thank you so much. The Cunninghams
hi, i was at 13th of july display thought it was fantastic!! defenately be back next year 🙂 and to jonnathan his falconry was great aswell it was my nephew who had to run with a fake rabbit and the harris hawk had to try and get it. thanks for a great display, callum cook
Thank-you for a fantastic evening, well worth what we paid. I especially loved seeing Jake and must admit I cried when I saw him as he is the spitting image of one of our beloved Collies that we lost in April. All the dogs where fantastic, you and your family were all so welcoming even though the weather was awful. It was an experience that my husband and I won't forget and will be back again next year to hopefully see Colin taking his turn. Thanks again keep up the good work and good luck in any forthcoming trials. The Hangers x
Hi,we came to your display last week, 29th June, whilst on holiday from sunny Scotland and can safely say it was the highlight of our trip. All of us adore the milkshake series and your books. My three children adore mist and I've proudly framed the picture of them with, (but have to say that we do love Jake the best!). We hope to see you again next year.
Hi, We came to your display last wed,(29th june). Had an absolutely fantastic time. Our son George is a massive fan and was so excited to see and speak to the boss, and to meet Jake and Mist. Secretly, I think my husband and I were just as excited! Will hopefully be back next year! Thank you, Louise
My wife Wendy and I visited on 22 June and had a wonderful time. We will come again at our next visit to our caravan. Thank you.
Thank you to David and Mist for making my 2 year old daughter Bailey's holiday. We met you at Mortehoe on Friday 25th June, after coming to the show on the Wednesday evening. Thank you for taking the time to stop and chat to us and letting us meet Mist. We walked out to see Sven the seal but he must have gone fishing. Thanks again, and hopefully we will be back next year x
Graham June 22nd 2011 at 6.00pm on holiday from High Wycombe, Bucks. What a great evening at Borough Farm enjoying the Sheep Dog demos and Falconry display. Having read Davids Books and meeting him and his wife personally added a wonderful additional perspective to the evening. Next year, I'll be bringing the grandchildren with me. Brilliant evening, many thanks Graham
hi, while we were on holiday in devon we came to the sheepdog and falconry displays. we really enjoyed it it was a little windy and cold but we all had a hot drink which warmed us up. over all it was a great evening thank you.
We thought the lambing days were terrific (move over Kate Humble) . We saw twin lambs being born, when you live in St Helens, Merseyside its somethinhg you don't see everyday! We visited on the 14th and enjoyed it so much we came back on the 15th. We especially enjoyed meeting all the pups and are glad they have all settled in new homes. We knew Colin would end up stopping at Borough Farm - he's just so cute!! I am sure Colin and Zola will grow to be fine sheepdogs. Hope to visit in the Summer.
Hi Everyone Whilst on holiday we visited the farm on Lambing Open day, what a memorable experience as I had the opportunity of holding newly born lambs and seeing a lamb being born. After talking to you and your wife you very kindly bought Mist and Jake to meet us which enabled us to video the occasion.
Hello you all at Borough Farm We visited your lambing open day on Borough Farm and it was great,we loved to see the David Debbie the kids the dogs and ofcourse the sheep and their newborn's it has been a great day for us,we made the Boroughwoods walk and enjoyed it very much, we hope to come back in July see you then kind regards Martin and Yvonne from Holland

I have read all your books and we own all the "Mist" series...just love them my family and I!! We too raise Border Collies and have experienced some of the same situations in ranching or farming as you would put it. Wish I was there to have helped you rope that lamb on the cliffs, I am a pretty good roper as I have done so for about 30 + years with cattle and some sheep. Good luck with your farm and hope to get over to that past of the world soon. Harold
Just finished reading "A Shepard's Watch" and "The Dogs of Windcutter Down" and am so relived to find your web page that tells me you made it! Congratulations on your success with farming and other ventures. My husband and I will take a trip to Devon next year to see the display. In the meantime we enjoy our border collie Tess and her successes with frisbie contests. Not quite sheep, we know.......
Ever since I bought my first B.C. I have wanted to take herdong classes and teach my dog how to herd. However, my first dog, Glynn, had absolutely no interest in herding. ( I put him on sheep when he was 18 months.) Then I rescued an amazingly lovely dog, Brody, who was too old and injured to even think of putting to sheep. I now am the proud owner of another B.C. who has from the getgo had the 'eye'. It wasn't intil he was 5 years that I was able to find a herding class, close by to take him to, to see if indeed he is able to be trained as a sheep dog. The lady that runs the class is amazed at how good he is. We have had 3 classes (once a week, and no place to practice) For 15 years I have wanted to learn how to train my B.C. how to herd, so it is with a great deal of excitement that I am taking this class. Your book has helped my to read my dog better and to understand how to guide him to do the job he and I are eager to learn. I will turn 70 on my next birthday and my greatest hope is that I will become a 'shepherd' before I die!! Thank you for such a beautiful book. Patricia PS. I live in Florida, so your book has been bought by the local library!
I have just found this page and think it is brilliant. I didn't think that Borough Farm was the real name of the farm and am shocked. I am glad that you have put on about the dogs, my kids and my husband and me love the tv series that has been on 5 and infact we have just bought a border collie puppy that they have named Mist after the program to replace our 12 year old dog that we lost last year, I'm hoping to train her to fetch the cows. I'm sorry to hear about Swift. I hope that you do follow on the series, Mist is the kids favourite dog, but I think that Jake is brilliant and he reminds of Bob (another collie that we had years ago) he was a big kid and used to fetch branches to throw rather than sticks
Sadly haven't made it down yet but just wanted to say thank you for many happy hours spent watching all the DVD's with my daughter. She loves animals and gets so much out of them. Best of all so do I, i find them lovely and so, so funny. The humour in them tickles me pink, very Pythonesque in places, in fact i get funny looks from her due to laughing so much!! thanks for all the happy times, hope to make it down this year
Hi there David and your doggies, I'm almost three and my brother is 11 months old and we visited your farm in August with our Mummy & Daddy and friends and were delighted to meet Mist also and see Jake and little Alfie in action with their duck friends. I never stop talking about you all, especially stroking Mist and playing on the hay too with my little north devon buddies Amber & Jasmine. My Grandadjohn has a sheepdog from a working farm in the Lake District which is the double of Jake, called Ben, he's lovely too. We live all the way in Hastings and hope to be back again soon! Cuddles for all the doggies, love Ruby-jude & Fynn
Hello from Vancouver Island, Canada! Our 16-month old daughter just became a huge Mist fan after we checked out a DVD from our local library. She wants to watch "Doggie movie" all day. We'll definitely be looking for the others in the series! My Mum grew up in a village in Somerset. I love listening to the dogs and other animals (and the "boss"!) speak with the local accent. The films are very well done. We love the humour! Maybe we'll be able to visit someday. 🙂
We first met David and Mist at a sheepdog display last summer at Dunster castle which we enjoyed immensely. Since then we have become avid followers of Mist and her friends - we watch them on Five and have 2 dvds. Have just discovered your website - we think its fab - its lovely to be able to follow the goings on at Borough Farm. We've noted the lambing dates and will be making a trip down from Southampton to see you then. Best wishes to all the lovely sheepdogs.
i bet every one says they are your biggest fan but i realy am i am 11 years old and have all your your mist dvds and when i grow up i am going have 8 dogs with the same names.i have not been yet but we are hoping to come and i realy amd looking forward to it from lucy
Me and my brother Ben love watching Mist and the other dogs on TV. I love Ernie and Gail, Ben's favourite is Gail and Mummy's favourites are Jake and Mist, Daddy's favourite is Jake. We have only just discovered your website and found that we'll be able to visit your farm, but disappointed that we'll have to wait until April!! Can't believe we missed you at Mole Valley in December! We live in North Devon too so will be able to come often!! I am 4 years old. I am looking forward to meeting all the dogs.
I'm a huge fan, and loved the books and the TV series, I have a collie myself, so share your obession with these wonderful creatures. We have just booked this years holiday - a trip to Woolacombe - so we will be visiting to watch a display in June. Good luck with this years lambing - hope the winter has been kind to you and the flock!!
Just finished "The Dogs of Windcutter Down" with my neighbours sheepdpg sat at my feet! What an amazing story and now trying to convince the husband to take a trip to Devon!
Just Brilliant - Kids came every week during the summer holidays and October half-term. Not sure who enjoyed it most us or the kids! Really helped our elsdest daughter with her fear of dogs - by the end she was volunteering for everything. Recommend the cakes - fantastic. Just looking at lambing days now - I can see a trip to Devon in April!!!
I visited with a group of friends and their children on Wed 27th October and, like many others, we were not sure what to expect. It was a fantastic afternoon and for us 'townies' it is a rare treat to spend an afternoon watching a different type of industry in action. The dogs were fantastic and David's entertaining character adds to the event. We were also really chuffed that we got to walk around your farm and learn more about your lifestyle and sheep farming in North Devon. Long may you continue to be successful with both sheep farming and sharing your experiences with the rest of us. Shan x
Thank you so much for making the last display a week later this year. For the last few years we have missed the display by a week, then last year we came a week early & thought that, finally, we would get to see the display, only for it to be rained off! Not entirely sure what I was expecting but it was well worth the wait & I can only hope that next year you will be holding more displays during September. Thank you again, Diana & Graeme
We are the wardens at the nearby Brook Lea Caravan Club Site at West Down, we came to the display on 1/9/10, enjoyed it tremenously. Usually when we have seen sheep dog displays in the past they have just been in a small arena, but when you sent Mist and Jake across the fields to fetch the herd of sheep it was amazing. I have a great niece who is nearly 3 and watches Mist on the telly so I bought her the puppy DVD she will love it Thank you so much for a great evenings entertainment
Hi David and family, My husband brought me down to see your wonderful dog display on the 8th Sept as part of my 50th birthday celebrations, and we had the most brilliant time. I love to see dogs working and you made it such fun. Meeting Mist and Jake afterwards was a huge highlight for me,they are a great credit to you. My two dogs who came along were also fascinated. Hope to see you all again next year.
We came to see your show on the 8th september 2010 this year, the last show of the season, we thought it was great, so funny expecially edward getting it all wrong, the show its self was overwhelming really knowing now what work has to go in to training your dogs to be as good as Jake and Mist, a really enjoyable evening and a must for another return if im in the area....( im from staffordshire) Kind regards maxine and vince...
Thank you for the Blog posts. We are in the US and faithfully order Mist DVDs each time thet are produced. My daughter adores the movies and shows. We adore border collies & have one; they are amazing. Ordering your DVDs, reading your book and reading/watching DVDs about border collie training has helped us provide a better life for our adopted "crazy" border collie (she is quite normal and happy now). Our dream is to travel to see a display!
Finally made it to your last show of the season. So very impressive, and such a delight to see David and his lovely family, and of course, the stars of the show, Mist and Jake. Could it be time for a new book?here's hoping. Kind regards to all at Borough Farm.
We came to your display with our cousins last Wednesday. This is our 3rd time and it just gets better and better. We want to book our holiday for next year. Adam was very envious when your son went off on the Quad Bike to open the gates! We were amazed at the patience of Mist and the paw signing. The cakes were lovely - Alice and Adam watched all episodes of the Piggy Sue DVD when we got back to the caravan. Thanks and see you next year. Alice (10) and Adam (8) Amy (10) and Sadie (7)
I absolutely loooove the movie about Mist!!!! And all the dogs are very unique and I was sad when Sir Gregory died, but everyone else was awesome. And I loved the voices too hehe it was all so awesome... Please make another movie!!! I'm begging you!!! -Redwhisker <3
Thank you Mist for my pawtograph xx Woof!
I came to the Borough farm shhepdog and Falconry displays on Wednesday. I loved every bit of it. I met Mist as well. She pawprinted my book, The dogs of Windcutter down. Thank you very much for talking to me and my dad David. I loved it and I hope to come again.
Hi. Having promised Rachel we would travel down to attend one of your displays one day, we made it yesterday and it exceeded our expectations. It was wonderfull for the children to watch and meet their television heroes and for me to see such a great display watching dogs working and enjoying what they are bred to do. We will certainly visit again. Many Thanks Jane x
me and my mother came down to mortehoe in the horrible weather last week and we were happy to see that you were doing the displays again, it was a lovely display and a nice atmosphere we enjoyed seeing the dogs it was good all round! rebecca
We came to see your display on 18 August while we were staying in Somerset and it was the absolute highlight of our holiday. Our daughter already loves Mist and the other dogs on the TV and their characters were equally lovable in real life. As with an earlier comment, we thought the sheepdog display was on its own excellent value for money, the falconry was fascinating and an added bonus. Thank you to everyone for all the hard work that must go into putting a display like that together. The tea and cakes were very welcome and completely delicious! We will recommend (and have already) to friends and family.
A wonderful experience on the 18th. Magical to see the dogs showing how clever they are,and their rapport with David. Not forgetting little Alfie. Will visit again.
We came to see the display on August 11th and it was wonderful as usual. Our daughters face lit up when the dogs appeared from the landrover! It is so lovely to see the dogs at work and we congratulate you for keeping everything so calm while Jonathon went to find his falcon (so pleased he did).We look forward to seeing the lambing at easter and the next series of the sheepdog tales! Thankyou again, the Allen family
Thank you for an absolutely wonderfull display last wednesday. The charm of the television programme was replicated ten fold in the reality. The boss himself welcomed us with a beaming smile and natural charm. You have managed to retain the feeling of a pastime shared as if we were friends just calling by, with a cup of tea and delicious home made cake, the whole show managed by the family. How refreshing! The falconry was good too, but the Mist show would stand on it's own at the same price - that's what we all came to see. The 400 mile day round trip was worth it despite the rain. Love to all the dogs and the Kennard family.
Hi Everyone at Borough Farm. I travelled from Northern Ireland to see Mist and the others on 21 July. The display was wonderful, Jake was amazing with the ducks and Mist couldn't have done better. Such a warm welcome and hospitality too. I hope to return one day to Devon and see you again. Many thanks and best wishes for a long and happy future. More DVD's please. They make such charming entertainment.
We came to the display on 18th August and it was brilliant. We were all very excited to be at Borough Farm and to see the dogs and "The Boss". Erin was thrilled to take part in Jake's duck display. It was a very special time and well worth the long journey. Thank-you.

We visited on Wed 11th and were impressed with the sheepdog show. We had been watching the Ch5 series so it was very exciting to see Mist and Jake in action. We were also staying in a holiday let right by Mortehoe and saw you out herding the sheep on your quad bike and the dogs in action - really exciting! We will be back again! p.s. - at the show the white falcon flew off and didn't come back - did you manage to retrieve it - we've been looking out for it ever since!!!!?
Magical. That one word describes how we all felt about our recent visit on the 18th August - to see Jake. I know we should put Mist at the top of the list but we really came to see Jake at work ....or play !! Mist is very special of course but there is something about Jakey boy that just keeps us all laughing and even without the voiceover - his unique character came shinning through whilst he rounded up the ducks during the show. We live a long way away and there are lots of miles between our home and the farm but the memory of our visit will stay with us for many years to come. Long life and good health to the wonderful people and collies, sheep and ducks at Borough Farm. From Rheanna Morgan and her Mummy and Daddy (Jake's biggest fans!!)
Hello Thank you for the display last night. It was really good and we loved all the dogs and thought they were fun. We thought the boss was very kind and patient. We really enjoyed meeting Mist, Jake and Alfie and thank you very much for letting us have Mist's pawprint. We have watched the latest DVD today and it is brilliant. We would love to come and see you again. Love Matt & Poppy xxx
We first met Mist, Eddie & Jake (oh & David too!) at Stowford Meadows on Monday 2nd August. We enoyed the display so much that we visited Borough farm on August 4th. We had a great time and will visit again when we are next in Devon. We have enjoyed watching Mist on Channel 5 and were able to complete our DVD collection. Looking forward to another series on TV.See you all next year, Alana & Aimee.
Have been meaning to catch one of your displays for ages and finally got to visit last evening (August 18th). I wasn't disappointed. Great for all ages. Such a friendly atmosphere. Will be along again, maybe bringing my own Collie, Meg, to see if she can pick up some tips. Many thanks.
Hello, We came to your display last Wednesday and had a fantastic time. It was the best day of our holiday and meeting Mist and the boss was brilliant. We also really loved seeing Jake and we think he is a star. We will definitely be back and mummy and daddy say they would recommend anyone to come along to your Wednesday evenings at the farm. Thank you, Caitlin and Danny.
A really impressive afternoon for all the family! Our three young children were enthralled, and will no doubt long remember the fun of the display and what they learned from it. We adults got just as much out of it too - we are border collie owners ourselves and it was fascinating to see this breed's amazing skills so insighfully and sympathetically presented! Will be back again and again.
We went to the show on 4th August 2010. We had a fabulous time. Very much enjoyed seeing David with Jake, Eddy and Mist and the ducks. It was humourous and interactive. I had a lovely cuddle with Mist. The kids loved it too! I also enjoyed the falconry show although I wasn't especially expecting to. It was like stand up comedy with birds. Great cakes too! A great evening and good value for money. Thank you.
A truely fantastic evening. Abbi my 2 and a half year old is a total Mist fan, so when we found out we could see her in action we had to come. A brilliant evening, fun for all ages. Would come back again and again! Thank you all (humans and dogs) for making such a great evening out, the real highlight of her holiday! Now home, Abbi wont stop watching her dvds! Well done! xxx
Thank you so much for a great evening of education and entertainment. We have been coming to Devon for a number of years, but this was the first time we had heard of you. We have put a recommendation about you in the guestbook where we stayed. See you again!
Stayed for a week at Woolacombe and missing our sheep dogs in Wales decided to visit the display. It turned out to be the highlight of the holiday. My dad has also read both of the books and couldn't put them down. Thanks for a great evening. The tea and homemade cakes went down a treat too !!!

Dear David and family, We would like to express our sincere sympathy for the sad loss of Swift. She was clearly a special dog who had a special talent. We have many treasured memories of her and lots of video and photos which we have taken during our visits to your displays. Kindest regards Andrew, Judith, Toby & Storm(our border collie)
We had an absolutely brillaint time at Borough Farm on Wed 21st July. We made mummy book our holiday in Devon so we could come and visit (all the way from Liverpool) and we loved meeting Fly,Alfie Jake Mist and Eddie. we stayed really late whey past our bedtimes and loved every minute, we went past the entrance to the farm several times more that week and kept asking to come again, but mum said that the dogs were out working in the fields! maybe next year......oh yes and the birds of prey were good too and I enjoyed holding a kestrel and taking part in the show with Jake and the holding a harris hawk.
Hellooo everybody! I Am the biggest fan of Border Collies and Devon, When i am older i want to live in devon and have lots of sheepdogs! I have been to one of the displays in 2008 at borough farm and enjoyed it so much! I Especially liked how Mist Just jumped onto me in front of the audience!! I Really liked the falconry display, Knock down the children! I got Mist's book and her paw print, Hopefully will come and see a show next year. I Am sad to hear about Swift Miss Her Loads, Hollyy xx
I have been to the displays twice at Dunster and will be going again this year, with my small grand children. I am lucky enough to live on Exmoor. David and Mist also came to our W.I. (Cutcombe) last year, along with Mist. Our members were thrilled with the visit, a very entertaining evening. I have all the books and dvds and am a huge fan. Our little ones really love the dogs. The wonderful thing about David,is his empathy with and very genuine love and respect for his animals. It just shines through all the time! What a fabulous life his dogs enjoy! So sorry to learn of Swift passing on- you must all miss her very much. What a great legacy she has left.
Many will walk in and out of our lives but only true friends will leave paw prints in our hearts. God bless you SWIFT, So sadly missed xxx
