Sheepdog & Falconry Displays
Shows for 2024
The sheepdog show will once again be in the company of David Kennard, and his trusty team of working collies. With top dogs Mirk and Bec, with a little help from new recruit Sam. Mirk will once again be taking on the role of duck dog with all the antics of 8 unpredictable ducks. You’ll be amazed by the skills of the Borough Farm sheepdogs
Our Falconry display will this year be performed by North Devon Falconer Martin Simkins. With his fantastic falcons, Charlotte the magnificent Eagle owl and amazingly clever Harris Hawk it’s a display that will live long in the memory.
Join us for an unforgettable country evening.
Our displays will take place every Wednesday evenings at 6pm. We hope you’ll be able to join us for an evening of amazing sheepdogs and breath-taking falconry.

David Kennard – Sheepdogs
David and his family have farmed at Borough Farm for 31 years. During that time sheepdogs have been a major part of David’s life, not only as invaluable assistance around the farm and on the rugged Mortehoe coastline where some of the flock graze, but also in the shows that Borough Farm hosts throughout the summer. David’s sheepdogs are equally at home working far into the distance, or marshalling the hilarious antics of the ducks that form a part of the Wednesday evening shows. The Borough farm sheepdogs are also famed for the TV series ‘Mist-Sheepdog tales’ that David created, and ran on Channel Five for 10 years.

Martin Simkins – Falconry
Martin has been flying his birds of prey for 25 years, and spends the summer months performing shows across the South West of England. His team of display birds range from the amazing ‘Stig’ a falcon of breath taking speed, Charlotte the majestic Bengal Eagle Owl, Harris Hawks, Kestrels and the delightful ‘Boris’ the Little Owl, a rarely seen native to North Devon. Martin’s birds are great performers in the ring, and after the show there’s a chance to see his birds up close, and to take photos on their perches.
David and Martin look forward to seeing you at one of the displays this summer.
